What we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and how to get rid of it. Last updated 20 August 2026.

What we collect

Everything below is collected because a specific part of the product does not work without it. Nothing here is collected for advertising, and none of it is sold.

Data Why
Your email address To sign you in and to send password resets.
Your name So a volunteer handing over an order knows whose it is.
Your phone number, if you give one Optional. So the school can reach you if something is wrong with an order during pickup.
Your child's first name and teacher Only on orders sent home with a student rather than handed to a car. It is how the school knows which classroom to deliver to. We do not ask for a surname, date of birth, or anything else about your child.
Your vehicle — colour, make, model and number plate So a volunteer can find your car in a queue of similar ones. Only collected at schools that carry orders out to cars.
Your location, at the moment you order A single position, recorded once per order, to confirm you are in the pickup queue rather than at home. While the app is open it reads your location to work out whether it can offer you pickup-line items — that reading stays on your phone, and the only position that ever reaches us is the one attached to an order. The app asks for "while using the app" location only, so it cannot see where you are once it is closed.
Your orders What you bought, what it cost, and what tax was charged. The school needs this to reconcile its own money.
A notification token, if you allow notifications To tell you when your order is ready or on its way.

Card details

We never see or store your card number. Payments are handled by Stripe, and the card is entered into Stripe's own payment sheet rather than into our app. The money settles into your school's account, not ours.

Who can see what

Your school's administrators and parent volunteers
See what they need to hand over an order: your name, your order, your vehicle if your school uses one, and your child's first name and teacher if the order goes to a classroom. They cannot see anything about any other school.
Other parents
See nothing about you.
Car Line Market
Can see the data in order to run and support the service. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Companies we rely on
Supabase (database and sign-in), Stripe (payments), Resend and Amazon SES (email delivery), Railway and Vercel (hosting), Expo (notification delivery), and Sentry (crash reports). Crash reports are configured not to include personal information.

Children

Accounts belong to adults. A child does not have an account, does not sign in, and cannot use the app. The only information we hold about a child is a first name and a teacher's name, given by their own parent, and only for orders that go to a classroom.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app, and it genuinely deletes — your profile, your vehicles and your personal details are removed rather than deactivated.

Past orders are kept, with your name — and your child's — removed from them. A parent group has to be able to reconcile money that actually moved, including after somebody deletes their account. Those records keep the amount and the date and lose the person.

Keeping it

Personal data is kept while you have an account. Financial records are kept for as long as the school needs them for its own accounting, in anonymised form once an account is deleted.

Your child's first name and teacher are removed from an order thirteen months after that order is finished, whether or not you still have an account. The order and its amounts stay, because the parent group has to reconcile money that moved; your child is simply no longer named on it. An order that is still outstanding keeps the name until it is handed over — otherwise nobody would know who to give it to.
